Laurel Park
Laurel Park, incorporated in 1925, is a small residential community with a population of 2250 and is an area that rises a thousand feet in elevation to the well-known site of Jump-Off Rock.
Jump-Off Rock was named for an old legend. “A young Cherokee maiden would meet her Cherokee lover there. He went away for a tribal war but promised to meet her back at the Rock upon his return. Every evening the young maiden climbed the Rock to look for her lover. Warriors brought news that her lover had died in the war. The Indian maiden was so distraught over the news; she went out on the edge of the rock and jumped to her death. It has been said that on a moonlit night, her ghost can be seen looking for her lover on Jump-Off Rock.”
Laurel Green Park is located at the corner of White Pine Drive and 5th Ave. West. The Park is a great place to walk, take the grandchildren or children to play in a fenced in play area or to socialize. Of course, it's also a great place to “walk the dog”
There is so much to be said for life in Laurel Park. We encourage you to look at Laurel Park as a place for your future home.
